To answer this question in simplest terms, it's because the trainer cares. Chris will do everything in his power to make sure you succeed as a client of Top Notch Training. You can forget the sales pitches, the hype, and the bogus promises that other gyms may offer. Top Notch Training is privately owned and operated - therefore we make the rules and understand exactly what client's want and need. Anyone can become a personal trainer, but there aren’t many who truly enjoy what they do and care about their clients. At Top Notch Training, it really is about YOU!
Realize this – If trainers claim to be “fat loss specialists” or specializing in other general areas of health and fitness, it’s most likely nonsense. Training strategies are one thing, but there are MANY ways to lose weight and get into better shape. Take a look at the staff at your current gym, or a potential training service...if the owner or staff are not in shape, do you honestly think they're going to be able to assist you in reaching fitness goals?
A well-rounded personal trainer will focus on the overall lifestyle change and behavior modifications necessary for that individual to not only succeed during their time spent with their trainer, but for the rest of their lives. Other areas that need to be touched upon include the mind and body connection and not just exercising, going from point A to B, a change in body composition (muscle mass and decrease in body fat), and building muscle/strength, stability and flexibility. These are all important factors to becoming more fit and healthier.
Similar to the infomercial ads on television claiming that someone can lose 6 inches in 6 weeks; or exercising for just 8 minutes per day can yield 30lbs of weight loss; it’s very unethical and unrealistic. It’s a sales ploy to capture the attention of the uneducated. Don't buy into the hype!

How much does it cost to be a client at Top Notch Training?
Well, that all depends on the clients overall commitment. We offer both 30-minute and 45-minute sessions, as the price varies with both. However, we make the finances easy and realistic to the clients needs. There are no membership fees and no large up front costs. Payments are personalized to the client, to make getting in shape less stressful and easier on the wallet. Prices will vary from client to client based on several factors: Goals, Commitment, Frequency.
Personal training should be viewed as an investment into your health and well being for the present and into the future. You cannot put a price on living a better quality of life. There are many things that can be passed upon in life in order to achieve greatness; why not start here?"
I am interested in hiring a personal trainer, where do I begin and what should I expect?
You can either email or call us to setup a consultation. There are no fees or commitments during this initial stage. During the consultation, you will meet with the owner to discuss your goals and what has brought you to Top Notch Training. You will discuss your health, your history and present routine regarding exercise and nutrition (if any) and a plan can then be created from there. If you think Top Notch Training is the right fit for you, you can be added to the schedule and start immediately. You can rest assured that it’s a comfortable setting, private and client oriented.
What should I expect during my first session?
Well most people are nervous to be honest, but there is no need to be. Most clients expect the trainer to be a drill sergeant and to put them through a very vigorous training routine. The truth is, it’s nothing like that in the beginning. During the first several training sessions you will perform at your own pace. You will learn the basics of exercise, proper form and breathing techniques. You will discuss with your trainer better eating habits, cardiovascular training and/or supplementation to help you achieve your goal. At Top Notch Training, it’s important to develop a close relationship with all the clients and not to view the sessions as just a session. It’s to learn what makes the clients tick, and their mindset and how we can work together to modify behaviors and get you on the right path to achieve your goals.
I have an injury, should I still seek personal training?
YES! Absolutely! Many people feel it’s a better decision to shy away from strength training when an injury has occurred. Whether it’s a knee, back, shoulders or neck problem, strength training is very versatile and it may be beneficial to engage in activity. Not only to ensure you remain consistent and on track, but exercise may also help to alleviate the injury itself and reduce the chance of it occurring again. Depending on the severity of the injury will depict how much rest time is needed before beginning your routine again. However, many people make the mistake of thinking its far worst than it is and after an exercise session, can ultimately feel 100% better. Strength training, healthier eating habits, stretching and being more active in general will greatly reduce the chances of injury and illness and possibly alleviate your current issues.
I’ve tried everything and still cannot reach my goal. I’ve been to many gyms and seen personal trainers before; why should I bother to continue?
First of all, drop the negative attitude. In most cases, that’s the downfall and reason for not changing and progressing. Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither is a physique. You need to be realistic and ask yourself if your goal can be achieved in the amount of time you expect it too. Secondly, as stated above, anyone can call himself or herself a personal trainer. All this entails is passing one of the dozens of exams.
This does not necessarily mean that they are well qualified to be working with people in achieving health and fitness goals. Before you give up, try us out. You won’t be disappointed. There are many things that come into play for succeeding in weight loss and keeping it off. We can give you the tools to do so!
What's the benefit of private 1-on-1 personal training compared to small group training (3-4 clients)?
There are quite a few differences between the two. With smaller group training, you get what you pay for. The average session may cost approximately $20-25 which includes a workout session with a trainer, and in most instances, nothing more. The primary objective of fitness facilities offering group training is to get as many clients through the door as possible, at a *cheaper rate, and bunch them together in one training session. This mean less attention to your needs, and usually less results.
With 1 trainer working with 3-4 individuals, it is nearly impossible to put all 3-4 people through a vigorous and beneficial workout (pertaining to real results). Is group training effective? of course it is, it's exercise. But things that may be a concern is proper form, technique, breathing and safety. How can 1 trainer possibly watch 3-4 people at once and ensure they are performing each and every rep correctly? Last time I checked, humans only have 2 hands and 2 eyes. With private 1-on-1 personal training at Top Notch Training, you're given your own personal fitness coach to guide you every step of the way. Your personal trainer will dedicate the entire session to you, ensuring proper form and technique on every exercise, nutrition, life coaching and anything else you may need to reach your goals. We do charge more per session, but you are receiving much more and the results speak for themselves.
Would you rather spend 12 months losing 20 lbs to save some money, or lose those same 20lbs in just 2-3 months? Yes, this is very realistic. Healthy, normal weight loss can equate for 8-12lbs per month, by following a consistent nutrition plan, exercising with weight regularly and performing the appropriate type of cardio. At Top Notch Training, we give you all these tools. We will customize a workout to your needs and to your goals. We will (if need be), customize a complete nutrition plan for you, what to eat, why and when. Most other gyms do not offer this. We will also give you a cardio regime to perform. With so much detail, your destined to see results and fast! Lastly, we also offer life coaching, which we strongly believe benefits the clients above and beyond their expectations. It isn't always as easy as "come in for a workout". Sure this is beneficial and better than doing nothing, but that is not our approach. We want our clients to receive the BEST possible results during their time with us. That is why we offer every tool you need to suceed.
Issues that clients deal with may be time management, family stress, financial stress, smoking or alcohol, peer pressure..etc. If willing, we try to work with the clients to get to the underlying cause of why they choose not to exercise and eat healthy to better their quality of life. If this is not needed, we do not push it. It is entirely up to the client whether or not they want to receive life coaching. So, for one price per session, our clients are receiving private 1-on-1 personal training, nutritional guidance, life coaching, a customized cardio routine, support and motivation. If you want to see real results and not waste your time or money, call Top Notch Training, and see why in just a few short years, we have established ourselves as the best personal training service in the area.
